Crowdsourcing ideas for community use of new middle school

The new consolidated middle school will get a lot of usage from 8-3:30 Mondays through Fridays during the school year. And the gyms will be heavily used by rec league basketball teams during rec basketball season. But what about the evenings and weekends? What about the summer?

In my recent article, I proposed that we figure out ways community members without school-aged children can have some of their needs met at the school and now we want to hearĀ from you. How might the community use the new middle school in off-hours and what/whose needs could it meet?

We will funnel any ideas we collect here to the school board for consideration. Please share this post far and wide!

(PS–You don’t have to go through us to share ideas with the school board. You can communicate with them directly, too.)

Crowdsourcing Middle School

Article by Jill_Williams

After growing up in Pulaski, I moved to NC and then NYC where I worked on issues of economic and racial justice. In 2014, I moved back to Pulaski where I continue that work as well as hang out with my husband, two kids and neurotic dog.

Good ideas, Laura! We'll pass them along. I think that the theatre for community use is already in the plans. And the indoor walking track is a popular one.
