Tomorrow, both major parties will select their nominees for November’s Gubernatorial race. Primary elections may seem unexciting, and are usually low turnout events, but they are our chance to express our thoughts on the direction of our parties and ensure we have qualified candidates on both sides in the fall. It is our civic duty to participate, and as they say, ‘If you don’t vote, you can’t complain about the government you get.’ Virginia has ‘open’ primaries, meaning that you can vote in either party’s primary on Tuesday.
Here is a list of everyone running, for both major parties, to help you prepare and inform yourselves.
Democrats
Democrats will select between current Lieutenant Governor Ralph Northam and Former Fifth District US representative Tom Perriello. Here are their platforms:

Three candiates are vying for the Lieutenant Governor nomination. Attorney and former federal prosecutor Justin Fairfax, is up against Political operative Susan Platt and former Federal Prosecutor Gene Rossi. Here are their platforms:

Republicans
On the Republican side, Former RNC Chair Ed Gillespie competes with Prince William County supervisor Corey Stewart and longtime General Assembly legislator Frank Wagner for the nomination. Here are their platforms:
